NOT our house! This is our neighbor's home...which I am positive can be seen from space.

Thanksgiving

I simply cannot believe it's November and Thanksgiving once again! It's amazing how quickly a year goes by. Unbelievable.

I have so much to be thankful for. More than words can begin to describe.- My marriage, my family, my friends, my job.

But more than anything, I am so thankful for my relationship with the Lord. Over the past year my life has been changed through the love I have found in having a relationship with the Lord. I am so thankful for Him and what he did for us on the cross.

Don't forget to thank Him today.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Oh, John Mayer

I've always loved John Mayer music. I know, I know, most people think he's too poppy, too cliche, too boring. Whatev, I like it. I have most of his albums and live stuff but there's something about Heavier Things and Continuum that always brings me back to leaving my comfortable hometown and venturing off to college- I guess its all those coming of age-ish lyrics.

He released a new album this week- Battle Studies. I've been listening to it for a few days and think it is a lot more grown up than his previous stuff but a little on the lonely and vulnerable side. A little like he got his heart broken before he wrote this stuff.

One of the songs I really like from the album is Edge of Desire. I don't have to state the obvious for you to know what the song's about, but I think it's a sweet song.

T-giving Trip Options

From my extensive business travel of late I have accrued some hotel points. The Beau and I decided Thanksgiving weekend would be a great time to use some of the points for a little mini road trip.

We originally had our sights set on Savannah, GA for the weekend but then realized we'd planned on spending Thanksgiving day in Knoxville, TN with my family which would add an extra 3.5 hours to our trip. Yuck- I don't do well in the car for more than about 3 or 4 hours for a weekend trip.

So we thought about it a little more and decided that since we'll already be close, why not do a little redneck getaway (picture the heart of Myrtle Beach in the mountains) and go to Gatlinburg, TN? The Beau has never been so as cheesy as the place may be, I thought it might be fun. There's an aquarium and there will be lots of Christmas decorations and lights up by then.

Then a rockslide happened last weekend on I-40 (the interstate we use to get to TN) and won't be cleaned up for months. Hmmm. Now we might have to forgo Thanksgiving in TN and go back to our original plan to go to Savannah, which is definitely my preference between the two places.

I went ahead and made reservations at hotels in both cities just so we'd be sure to have a place to stay regardless of where we end up. Either way I'm so excited about doing a little romantic getaway for just the two of us! It's been a while since we've gotten to go away and visit some place new and different!

Do ya'll have suggestions of places to eat and stuff to do in either city?
